An Omegle alternative that actually works
Omegle closed in November 2023 after fourteen years. If you miss the thrill of meeting a random stranger with one click, here’s the same idea — rebuilt with moderation, translation and a few games.
Omegle vs Chat-Fun
| Omegle | Chat-Fun | |
|---|---|---|
| Random video chat | Yes (until 2023) | Yes |
| Sign-up | No | No |
| Reports and bans | Weak | One-tap reports, device bans |
| Message translation | No | Built in |
| Gender / country filters | No | VIP / VIP+ |
| Games with your partner | No | Tic-tac-toe, battleship, drawing game |
Why Omegle shut down
In his farewell note, founder Leif K-Brooks said that fighting misuse of the platform had become too costly and stressful to continue. The lesson for every random chat is simple: without moderation, people stop feeling safe and leave.
That’s why moderation here isn’t an afterthought. Reports go to real moderators, bans are tied to the device rather than a nickname, and an automatic check flags explicit frames.
What to look for in any Omegle alternative
- A clear 18+ rule and a visible report button.
- No sign-up wall — and no reason to hand over your phone number.
- Works in a mobile browser without installing anything.
- Free basic chat; paid extras should be optional.
Same thrill, better manners.
